CSSC London – Regional Volleyball Event
Brixton Recreation Centre - 13th Jan 2006
With the change from CSSC Volleyball National Finals, to a festival
format now being in place, local regional events have followed suit
to reflect these changes to help and promote Civil Service volleyball
at local level.
Over 25 people attended the day at Brixton, with coaching, team
and individual competitions.
Most encouraging was the number of new faces at beginner level,
which is one of the main objectives of the change in event format.
With the coaching session finished, the team competition began
with 4-a-side group games. A number of close games saw GAD just
missing out in losing their last group game to reach the final.
This left HMRC 3 captained by Dom Jessop and MOD/HMRC (Pete’s
All-stars), led by Pete Button to contest the final.
An even exchange of points early in the game finally saw the MOD/HMRC
composite team take the lead over HMRC 3 and the game 25 - 16.
The individual team competition saw all attendees mixed up into
separate teams that changed over a number of rounds. Results from
each game played were recorded against each player. These results
were carried forward to the end, which provided the basis of selection
of 11 players to go forward to CSSC Volleyball Festival in Loughborough.
