London Civil Service Bowling Club enjoyed another very successful summer season. Membership was maintained at 59 including 6 women. We played 17 matches, including fixtures against MOD, Farnborough Civil Service and Middlesex County VPs., of which the Club won 10.

Bowls 2004 English Nationals33 members participated in the Club Championships in singles , pairs, triples and rinks. The following winners qualified to play in the English National Championships at Melton Mowbray and the CSSC Women's Singles Championships at ROKO, Nottingham:

  • Singles - John Riddington (Lord Chancellors Dept)
  • Women's singles - Christine Wooler (GOSE)
  • Pairs - Nick Skidmore (Customs), Paul Cater (BT)
  • Triples - Des Hunter (PO), Barry Porter (PO), Keith Beckett (Inland Rev)
  • Rinks - Andy Kemp (PO), Ian Streames (PO), Andy Roberts (PO), John Riddington

Our best ever results were achieved in the Nationals when both our teams carried off both the Pairs and Rinks Championship Cups, and at Nottingham, Christine Wooler won the National Open Women's Singles Championships. The photogragh shows the Rinks Cup being presented by John Firmin (also from London), President of the English Civil Service Bowling Association, to (left to right) Andy Kemp, Ian Streames, Andy Roberts, and John Riddington.
