Report

The CSSC London cricket sixes team (from the Department for Transport – SPARTA) were up against the Barbados Police club at the famous Wanderers Cricket Ground.

The police won the toss, and elected to bat, looking to take full advantage as the opening batsman cracked a four off the first ball. The Police kept the run rate flowing, helped by two dropped catches in the 2nd and 3rd overs. In the 4th over Alleyn seemed to nick the ball off a delivery from Barry and was taken by wicketkeeper Messenger, but the umpire decided to give a wide instead, and the batsman stayed at the crease only to hit a four off the very next ball. At the end of the allotted 5 overs, Barbados Police knocked up 71 without loss.

The CSSC London team started their innings slowly but looked to be opening up in the second over. However, the deceiving bowling of Alleyn drew Cooper out of his crease to swing and miss, and be stumped. Barry followed Cooper with the very next ball in a carbon copy of the previous dismissal. Batsmen Walker and Messenger steadied the innings and started scoring, with Walker clearing thr ground to hit a massive six. With 22 left in the last over, Walker was dismissed, stumped. Aranha went in for the final few balls but could not get the runs required, as London lost by 5 runs.

Results

Barbados Police won by 5 runs (71 to 66)
