Royal Ascot: 20 June 2007
On Wednesday 20 June, 49 CSSC members, all dressed to the nines met at Chadwick St. at 9.30am to prepare for the exciting day ahead.
Whilst the ‘punters’ were studying the form with an early morning Bucks Fizz in hand, the food and drink was loaded on board the coach, and we were soon ready to depart. The journey began and after swapping tips and predictions, we soon reached our destination where the supplies were transferred onto tables for everyone to devour.
Despite a heavy downpour during lunch, we managed to reach the Grandstand area relatively dry and in good spirits – some even more so after the first race, with ‘Tariq’ romping home at 8 -1. Come on Tariq!
As the day progressed, the sun came out and there were several winners within the party. Others, however; were not so lucky, but at least they could console themselves by soaking up the fantastic atmosphere around the course.
After leaving the Grandstand, the CSSC party were treated to more food and drink at the picnic area before climbing on board the coach for the journey home.
Whether leaving as a winner or a loser, everyone had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
